Raymond was the sixth of eight children, born on a farm near Atwood Illinois in 1893.
Eli, Raymond's father, also a minister, held offices including the District
Superintendent of the International Sunday School Association, and was a founder of the
Evangelistic Temple in Houston, Texas.
Eli's oldest brother, Theodore J. Richey (not shown), was a well known United Brethern pastor
and evangelist.
Raymond's oldest sister, Bessie (centered in doorway) became the wife of Elmer G. Gerhart,
a minister, and a founder and treasurer of the Evangelistic Temple.
