SLAVE TRADE, TRAFFICKING, PROSTITUTION

Break the Traffic
It is estimated that 600,000 to 800,000 people are trafficked across international borders each year. Of these victims, 80 percent are female, and up to 50 percent are children and hundreds of thousands are used in prostitution each year. On top of this is the vast "in country" trafficking and exploitation.

Business Travellers against Human Trafficking
Our aim is to give people who travel on business an understanding of human trafficking and a place to report what they see, via our website. We then connect with police forces to help free exploited women and children and also work with hotels to help them achieve an environment free of child exploitation.

Chab Dai - The Cambodia Project (Joining Hands)
A coalition of Christian organisations in Cambodia committed to ending sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking, we exist to help families and victims to be all that God created them to be. Rural villages and communities are very vulnerable to traffickers and paedophiles as they are unaware of the risks that face them and do not have the resources to deal with such threats.

CHASTE (Nigeria)
An ecumenical charity which supports women who have been trafficked for sexual exploitation. It has inspired the opening of safe houses in the UK and seeks to do so in countries of origin. CHASTE sets its face against the culture of demand for trafficked women and works closely with the Government and police in assisting the process of eradicating the evil of trafficking.

Child Sex Tourism Prevention Project
Engage citizens against child sex tourism. Site includes links to law enforcement agencies for reporting abuse of children overseas.

Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST)
Join our efforts. Trafficked people most commonly work in sweatshops, restaurants, on farms, in manufacturing, prostitution and as private domestic workers.

Daughters Project
Through the staff and resources of the Daughters' Day Centre in Phnom Penh, Cambodia victims of human trafficking are supported in their efforts to leave the sex industry. Children as young as four are sold into the sex industry in Cambodia. Perhaps one third of the girls are from other countries, mainly Vietnam.

Esther Benjamins Trust
Committed to ending the trafficking of Nepalese children, into abusive and exploitative Indian circuses. EBT Retrieval teams regularly visit circuses to rescue trafficked children, some as young as eight. The rescued children are reunited with their families and provided long term support.

Free the Slaves
There are about 27 million slaves in the world today, including in the USA. Join our efforts to abolish slavery.

The Freedom Project, a part of YWAM Slavic Ministries, is dedicated to eradicating the epidemic of human trafficking. We're focused on three aspects of human trafficking; Prevention, Protection and Restoration. We are also committed to raising awareness and calling to action people in our communities, nations and world.

Garden of Hope (Mostly Thailand)
Equips national leaders with training, logistical, and financial support to address human-trafficking in their communities. Teams conduct outreaches in border areas and work to secure safe living situations for each individual. Vocational training for rescued women includes baking, cooking, sewing, customer service, English and computer training.

Hagar Project
Working in Cambodia, the Project intervenes in the lives of vulnerable mothers and children by offering prevention, rehabilitation, and reintegration programs.

International Justice Mission
IJM is a human rights agency that rescues victims of violence, sexual exploitation, slavery, and oppression. Watch a video from the Today Show of October 2006.

Jubilee Action (UK based, working in Manila, Philippines)
For over 15 years our projects have provided refuge for children at risk of being trafficked into the commercial sex industry. Our Childhood for Children Home provides a therapeutic and protective home for up to 60 sexually abused children at any one time coupled with an outreach programme that reaches a further 60 children.

Living for Tomorrow
Anti trafficking project in Estonia, a source, transit, and destination country for women and children trafficked for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Estonian women and girls are trafficked to Finland, Sweden, Norway, and other EU countries. Women from Russia, Latvia, and Ukraine are trafficked through Estonia to Nordic countries.

Not for Sale Campaign
Information resource and a campaign to end slavery, including forced prostitution, in our lifetime. Sign up for an online The Underground "e-zine". Attend fund-raising concerts.

Polaris Project
A leading international organization combating human trafficking and modern-day slavery. Based in the United States and Japan, we bring together community members, survivors, and professionals to fight trafficking and slavery in the spirit of a modern-day Underground Railroad.

Servant Works: The Well
Each year thousands of women and girls from poorer towns and villages in Thailand flock to cities like Bangkok and Pattaya to work in bars, gogo bars, brothels and massage parlors. (see web site for more)...

Stop the Traffic
A global coalition of more than 300 member organisations working together to fight against people trafficking; by raising awareness on a subject that is little known or understood. VETERINARY SCIENCES

African Inland Missions
Often lists needs for veterinarians.

Christian Veterinary Mission
Long and short term programs. Work overseas or stateside with one of our current partners in the shuttle program. Short-term trips are usually two weeks, but can range from one week to six months. Opportunities for veterinary students.

Christian Veterinary Missions of Canada CVMC

Red Sea Team International
Veterinarians, animal husbandry workers, needed for new projects.

Remote Area Medical Veterinary Services
Volunteer veterinarians and support workers participate in clinics in Appalachia and large scale programs in the Sioux, Navajo and Zuni nations. A training and treatment project is being developed in Guatemala. 

Veterinary Christian Fellowship (UK)

World Concern
Often lists paid jobs for those with veterinary skills.

Note to veterinarians: If your experience is primarily with small animals, you may feel you're not well qualified for some mission situations.
