       Prepare to Serve in Christian Missions

Just as you would prepare for any other occupation, so should you obtain appropriate training if you expect to enjoy  success in mission service.  Those who return from mission service prematurely usually do so not for lack of Bible knowledge or inadequate vocational skills, but from lack of preparation for the unique challenges of mission service. 

We've put together a list of some of the many missions-specific training opportunities available.  We strongly urge those who are seriously considering mission service to seek out and attend an appropriate school. 

ABSL Business Bible School

Hillside Missions Organization
Short term training and trips with a focus on unreached people groups in the 10/40 window, with the current focus on China. Weekly training meetings for five months are followed by one to two week ministry trips. Also, internship program.

Gateway Missionary Training Centre (Langley, BC, Canada)
A different kind of school! Focus is on the development of the whole person - head, heart and hands. Three months of classroom and community learning, then three months (or longer) overseas internship. Our purpose: to help missionary candidates to: GET THERE! STAY THERE! BE EFFECTIVE!

Global Frontier Missions     GFM has a seven month     missionary training school   for singles and families in Oaxaca, Mexico working among unreached people groups beginning in Sept. each year. Students receive an associate's Bible degree while receiving classroom and hands-on church planting training. $450/month includes tuition, housing, ministry supplies, your missionary visa, and transportation inside Mexico.

Global Outreach Mission Leadership Training Program
MLTP is a one-year program for missionary training, designed to develop the leader in you and prepare you for base ministry. The training program is a multi-cultural experience in at least two different nations and it is divided into three semesters with training, exploration and service. Not charismatic.

Hands On Missions

Palmas de Mamre  Missionary Training School, Costa Rica
Partnering with Emercy, Las Palmas de Mamré operates a mission to reach the pueblos along the rivers bordering Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Have you thought about becoming a missionary pilot? Our two-week program is designed for students who feel they may have a call to missions aviation, but aren't sure. Experience actual firsthand training in the pilot and mechanic programs. Combine with a five-day mission trip to Mexico.

Appropriate Technology Institute

Aquaculture International
Our "Aquaponics" course presents practical and profitable ways of combining aquaculture and hydroponics for mutual benefits. Provides grass roots/competency based practical training from a Christian and international perspective, for those working, or wishing to work, with children at risk.
